MCC Theater’s acclaimed world premiere production of The Other Place starring Laurie Metcalf has extended for one week at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Sharr White’s new drama, directed by Joe Mantello, opened on March 28 and will now play through May 1. Metcalf and Mantello were recently nominated for Lucille Lortel Awards for the production.
In addition to Metcalf, The Other Place features Dennis Boutsikaris, Aya Cash and John Schiappa.
Metcalf stars as Juliana Smithton, whose research leads to a potential breakthrough in Alzheimer treatment drugs. But just as it does, her life takes a disorienting turn. During a lecture to colleagues at an exclusive beach resort, she glimpses an enigmatic young woman in a yellow bikini amidst the crowd of business suits. One step at a time, a mystery unravels as contradictory evidence, blurred truth and fragmented memories collide in a cottage on the windswept shores of Cape Cod.
The Other Place features scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Dane Laffrey, lighting design by Justin Townsend, projection design by William Cusick and original music and sound design by Fitz Patton.
