It was smooth sailing on the opening night of the bubbly Cole Porter musical Anything Goes, which bowed April 7 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The tale of love aboard the ocean liner S.S. American is led by Tony winners Sutton Foster as nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Joel Grey as angster Moonface Martin, who brought the house down with the help of yet another Tony winner, director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall. After the curtain fell at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, the tap shoes came off and the talented cast headed to the docked ship USS Intrepid, (now a Sea, Air & Space Museum), where they were joined by fans and friends for an opening night party on the high seas of the Hudson River.
