Full casting has been announced for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming production of Terrence McNally's Master Class, featuring Tyne Daly and Sierra Boggess. Clinton Brandhagen will appear as Stagehand alongside Jeremy Cohen as Manny, Alexandra Silber as Sophie and Garrett Sorenson as Tony. The production, directed by Stephen Wadsworth, begins previews on June 14 and opens on July 7 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Brandhagen's stage credits include Mister Roberts, Shear Madness, Color Me Dark and A Light in the Storm. Cohen has appeared onstage in Avenue X and The Bowery Boys. Silber recently appeared in the West End production of Carousel. Her other West End credits include The Woman in White and Fiddler on the Roof. Sorenson has appeared in many operas, including Das Rheigold, Otello and Die Agyptische Helena.
Master Class is a portrait of an opera diva told through her recollections of the glories, triumphs, and tragedies of her own life and career. McNally's play originally opened on Broadway on November 5, 1995 and won the Tony Award for Best Play. It ran for 598 performances, closing on June 29, 1997.
