Sobering news for the cast of High: Matthew Lombardo’s drama of faith, addiction and recovery will come down to earth on April 24 when it plays its final performance at the Booth Theatre. The show, starring two-time Tony nominee Kathleen Turner, will close after playing 28 previews and eight regular performances, directed by Rob Ruggiero.
High began performances on March 25 and opened on April 19. The play stars Turner as a less-than-traditional Catholic nun, whose uses her foul mouth, brusque sensibility and personal struggles with addiction in service of her job in a Catholic rehab center. Tony-nominee Stephen Kunken co-stars as Father Michael Delpapp and Evan Jonigkeit makes his Broadway debut as Cody Randall, a 19-year-old hustler and addict.
High began life in July 2010, when the play premiered at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut, followed by runs at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in September and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis in October 2010.
