Nominees have been announced for the 77th annual Drama League Awards, which will be presented at a luncheon to be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel on May 20. Kathleen Turner (High) will host the awards, presented in five competitive categories, including the Distinguished Performance Award. As always, the 63 acting nominees, plus seven past winners, will be seated on a dais and given the opportunity to speak to the crowd.

Previous winners of the Distinguished Performance Award will be invited to sit on the dais in honor of their work in the current season. They include Norbert Leo Butz (Catch Me If You Can), Stockard Channing, (Other Desert Cities), Cherry Jones (Mrs. Warren's Profession), James Earl Jones (Driving Miss Daisy), Patti LuPone (Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown), Brian Stokes Mitchell (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) and Geoffrey Rush (The Diary of a Madman). Also ineligible are Broadway transfers of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Brief Encounter, The Scottsboro Boys and Time Stands Still, which were nominated for the 2010 awards.
As previously announced, non-competitive awards will be given to Whoopi Goldberg (the Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award), Liza Minnelli (Distinguished Acheivement in Musical Theatre Award) and Susan Stroman (Julia Hansen Award for Excellence in Directing).
