Kevin Kline, Orfeh and Blythe Danner are among the theater pros who will take part in the 26th annual Lucille Lortel Awards on May 1 at NYU Skirball Center. Zach Braff and Samantha Bee will host the ceremony which will feature the theme "Off-Broadway" Rocks.
The full list of presenters includes Kline, Danner, Olympia Dukakis, AnnaLynne McCord, Natasha Lyonne, Hilarie Burton, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Annabella Sciorra, Kelly Rutherford, Michael T. Weiss, Mike Birbiglia, Lily Rabe, Josh Hamilton, Matthew Settle, Ron Rifkin, T.V. Carpio, Valerie Harper, Arian Moayed, Terrence McNally, Anson Mount, Sanjaya Malakar, Tammy Blanchard, Kate Shindle, Billy Porter, Seth Numrich, Christopher Hanke, Patina Miller, Anthony Rapp and Jeremy Strong.
"'Off-Broadway Rocks'" is a celebration of musical theater material done with a contemporary rock sound," according to press material. The ceremony will feature performances by Orfeh (reprising a tune from her 2001 off-Broadway show Love, Janis), Grammy nominated percussionist Everett Bradley, rock band The Bettys and performance artist Michael T. The show is directed by Michael Heitzman with musical direction by David Holcenberg.
The Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were created in 1985 by the Off-Broadway League, and recognize excellence off-Broadway by honoring the invaluable contribution of artists to the theater community.
