Celebrating with Donna Murphy and Her Party People on Opening Night

The pages of theatrical history got more than one addition on April 28 when time-traveling new musical The People in the Picture opened at Studio 54, bringing a story of laughter in the face of historical tragedy to the stage, and bringing two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy back to Broadway. Leading a cast of seasoned Broadway vets like Nicole Parker, Lewis J. Stadlen and Chip Zien, Murphy stars as Bubbie, a grandmother in 1970s New York City who was a darling of the Yiddish theater circuit in Poland before the Second World War. Broadway.com chatted with this brand new show’s supporters on the red carpet, then headed to the Marriott Marquis’ Westside Ballroom to check in with the talented cast at their after party.
