Three more of Broadway’s talented ladies have signed on for the 2011 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards, hosted by Vanessa Williams. Tony winner Audra McDonald will present alongside past Audience Choice Award winner Sierra Boggess, while The Addams Family funny lady (and former Broadway.com video blogger) Jackie Hoffman will appear as a special guest.
McDonald won a Broadway.com Audience Choice Award in 2004 for A Raisin in the Sun, a role that also earned her a Tony Award. She has four Tonys in total, including trophies for Carousel, Master Class and Ragtime. Her other Broadway credits include Marie Christine, Henry IV and 110 in the Shade. McDonald will star in the upcoming American Repertory Theatre production of Porgy and Bess this summer.
Boggess is returning to Broadway in July playing opera student Sharon, the role that McDonald played, in Terrence McNally’s Master Class. She won a 2008 Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Breakthrough Performance for The Little Mermaid and recently spent a year in London headlining Love Never Dies, earning an Olivier Award nomination for her work.
As kooky Grandma, Jackie Hoffman is a comic highlight in the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award-winning musical The Addams Family. She made her Broadway debut in Hairspray and more recently played Calliope/Aphrodite in Xanadu. Hoffman is also enjoying an extended 50th birthday with the hit run of her nightclub act, Jackie Five-Oh!, at Joe’s Pub.
As previously reported, also presenting awards at the May 15 ceremony are Gavin Creel, Sutton Foster, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Karen Olivo, with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying star Daniel Radcliffe kicking off the show.
