A Wonderland Wedding! White Knight Darren Ritchie Pops the Question On Stage

Nothing takes the bitter out of a bittersweet final show like a real-life Broadway love story! On May 15, Wonderland, Frank Wildhorn’s Alice in Wonderland tuner, played its final performance at the Marquis Theatre, but the story wasn’t over when the curtain went down. As Janet Dacal took a teary last bow as Alice, her White Knight, Darren Ritchie, took centerstage to give his leading lady—and real life love—a very special closing night gift. Surrounded by their castmates and “all of their new favorite friends” in the audience, Ritchie told the story of meeting Dacal at the Wonderland demo recording session (an anecdote he shared with Broadway.com here!), before getting down on one knee to propose to an overwhelmed and overjoyed Dacal.
