‘We Have God on Our Side,’ Cracks Sister Act Star Patina Miller After Audience Choice Award Win

Sister Act fans raised their voices to name the show Favorite Musical at this year’s Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards, and leading lady Patina Miller had nothing but fabulous things to say about the crowds. “We hear them all throughout the show and you see their faces at the end, from eight years old to 85, they’re just beaming,” the actress said as she gathered with her co-stars backstage after taking home the top prize.

“We love doing the show every night, but the fact that they voted for us is amazing. Everyone [at the theater] is going to be so thrilled,” she continued. “Word of mouth has really grown, and when you go onstage, people start cheering before you even start to say anything. By the end they have a great time.”

The win also came as a pleasant surprise to the actress. “We had no idea this was going to happen, but we have God on our side and you can’t fight that,” she laughed.
