Watch out, America—con man Frank Abagnale Jr. is headed to a city near you! The Tony-nominated musical Catch Me If You Can, which is about the real-life exploits of a youthful Abagnale, will launch a national tour in the fall of 2012 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI. Casting and additional cities will be announced at a later date.
Catch Me If You Can tells the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr., a world-class con artist who is pursued by straight-arrow FBI agent Carl Hanratty. Directed by Jack O'Brien, the tuner features music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman, a book by Terrence McNally and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. The musical opened on April 10 at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre and stars Aaron Tveit as Frank Abagnale Jr., Norbert Leo Butz as Carl Hanratty, Tom Wopat as Frank Abagnale Sr., Kerry Butler as Brenda Strong, Rachel De Benedet as Paula Abagnale, Linda Hart as Carol Strong and Nick Wyman as Roger Strong. The show received four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.
