June 14 is shaping up to be a really big day for Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark. Not only will the long-previewing show officially open on Broadway, but the date also marks the release of the original cast recording. Featuring 14 tracks, the album is produced by Grammy winner Steve Lillywhite and will be released by Interscope Records. Can't wait for the release? "Rise Above 1," a single from the album performed by show star Reeve Carney and the musical's composers Bono and The Edge, will be available for digital download May 25.
Featuring music by Bono and The Edge, as well as a revised book by Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Spider-Man is currently in previews at the Foxwoods Theatre. The musical is now under the new direction of Phillip William McKinley, who took over from original director and co-book writer Julie Taymor.
Spider-Man stars Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane Watson, Patrick Page as Norman Oswald/Green Goblin, T.V. Carpio as Arachne, Isabel Keating as Aunt May and Michael Mulheren as J. Jonah Jameson.
