Love Never Dies star Ramin Karimloo will play the leading role in The Phantom of the Opera at the juggernaut musical’s 25th anniversary celebration at London’s Albert Hall this October, according to The Stage. Full details have yet to be announced for the celebratory event, which will reportedly be a completely new production created for Albert Hall, with original choreographer Gillian Lynne on board to stage it.
Karimloo, who has played the part in Phantom sequel Love Never Dies since it opened in 2010, has also played the role in the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera. He will reportedly be joined by Sierra Boggess, who originated the role of Christine Daae opposite Karimloo in Love Never Dies. The actress also played the role in the Las Vegas production of Phantom in 2006. She is currently preparing to star in the Broadway revival of Master Class opposite Tyne Daly.
No official announcement about the upcoming anniversary has been made. Nicholas Allott, managing director of Cameron Mackintosh Ltd, (producer of Phantom), told The Stage that full details will be announced within the next three weeks.
