As the first Broadway revival of Godspell readies for a fall opening, Broadway.com asked which talented young actor you'd like to see take on the role of Jesus Christ. The votes are in, and fans have named Jonathan Groff the chosen one. The Spring Awakening Tony nominee and recent Glee guest star landed in first place with 27% of votes. Groff previously played the role in New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse 2006 production of the Stephen Schwartz musical.
Following in a close second place came Tony nominee Gavin Creel with 26% of votes. The Hair and Thoroughly Modern Millie veteran was previously attached to play Jesus when the revival first planned on opening in 2008. That production was delayed due to financial reasons.
Third place went to Darren Criss with 10% of votes. The production would mark the Broadway debut for the Glee breakout star.
Thanks for voting!
