In the final days leading up to the 2011 Tony telecast, Broadway.com is posting videos of favorite Tony memories of this year’s nominees, with their own commentary. Best Actor nominee Tony Sheldon of Priscilla Queen of the Desert got his yearly Broadway fix via the Tony telecast in his home country of Australia. His personal highlight? A number from the short-lived 1986 musical Big Deal, conceived, choreographed and directed by Bob Fosse a year before his death.
“My very favorite Tony moment was “Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar” from Big Deal. It was Bob Fosse’s last big show, and he won the Tony for Best Choreography. It was just the most exciting number. I used to watch it on a loop for days on end.”
