As Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark inches towards its June 14 opening night, Broadway.com asked which other superhero you'd like to see take the stage in their own Broadway musical. The votes are in, and Wonder Woman leads the pack. The invisible-jet-flying, Lasso of Truth-swinging beauty earned 34% of votes. Wonder Woman, originally created in 1941 by William Moultron Marston and Harry G. Peter, almost returned to TV this year when NBC filmed a new pilot starring Adrianne Palicki, however the network decided not to pick the series up.
X-Men landed in second place with 21% of votes. The gang of Marvel mutants can currently be seen on the big screen in the prequel X-Men: First Class. Several Broadway veterans have appeared in the long-running film series including Liev Schreiber, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Brian Cox.
Landing in third place came another team of crime fighters: the Fantastic Four. The group, also created by original Spider-Man scribe Stan Lee, earned 7% of votes.
Thanks for voting!
