“I’ve never been happier in my life, and I’ve never been happier in a job,” Sutton Foster declared when accepting the 2011 Best Actress in a Musical Tony Award for Anything Goes. “All I ever wanted as a little girl was to be a performer.”
Radiant in a Michael Kors strapless gown, Foster saluted her trio of Broadway co-stars (Joel Grey, Colin Donnell and Adam Godley), then became emotional as she thanked the three real-life men in her life: boyfriend (and fellow 2011 Tony nominee) Bobby Cannavale, “who has changed my life,” Cannavale’s 16-year-old son Jake and her soon-to-depart dresser Julien Havard, with whom she has worked on six shows in nine years. Havard, who is apparently headed to Cape Cod to become an artist, got a huge plug for his fledgling career from Foster, who cried as she saluted a special friend and colleague.
