After a two-show day, Broadway’s pet-owning performers love nothing more than coming home to their number one fan: a loyal four-legged friend. In honor of the annual Broadway Barks dog and cat adoption event, coming up on July 9 in Shubert Alley, we asked stage stars to show their puppy—and kitty!—love by telling us all about their furry pals.
PATRICK PAGE (Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark)
What is your pet’s name and breed?
Sophie. She's a 12 year-old Maltese.
How did your pet get its name?
She told us. Really.
What is your pet’s favorite pastime?
Kissing. Sleeping. Eating. Not necessarily in that order.
Does your pet know any tricks?
She claims to be above doing tricks, but she has been known to stay and leave a treat very well, which can be damn impressive in a little white dog.
What’s the funniest thing your pet has done?
She used to be able to do an impression of a flying Superman but her abs are gone now.
What’s the naughtiest thing your pet has done?
She claims to have always been nice. She firmly believes in Santa Claus. If you ask me, it was when she tried to follow me on stage in The Lion King (a dresser stopped her at the last second).
Do you look like your pet?
No. She is stunning.
