Michael Countryman, Charlotte Parry and John Sharian have joined the cast of the Atlantic Theater Company's previously announced production of Simon Stephens' Bluebird. Performances begin August 9 at Atlantic Stage 2, with opening night set for August 22. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, the limited engagement will run through September 9.
Bluebird stars Simon Russell Beale as Jimmy MacNeil, a London taxi driver whose passengers often volunteer personal information and stories during their trips. The cast also includes Tobias Segal, Kate Blumberg, Mary McCann and Todd Weeks.
Countryman's Broadway credits include Mary Stuart, Night Must Fall, Holiday, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, A Few Good Man and Face Value. He has appeared off-Broadway in Shipwrecked!, The New York Idea, The Bald Soprano, Mary Rose and Trumpery. Parry recently appeared on Broadway in The Importance of Being Earnest. Her other Broadway credits include Coram Boy and The Real Thing. She has also appeared in Equivocation, Howard Katz and The Bridge Project's productions of The Cherry Orchard and The Winter's Tale. Sharian's many London theater credits include Life During Wartime, The Sweetest Swing in Baseball, Fresh Kills, Private Wars/Lone Star and Macbeth.
Bluebird will feature scenic design by Rachel Huack, costume design by Sarah Holden, lighting design by Ben Stanton and sound design by Darron West.
