As news broke that Lea Michele won't return to Glee after the series' third season, Broadway.com asked what career options you'd like to see the Emmy-nominated actress explore next. Take a look below to find out where fans hope to catch Michele in the near future!
1. Take Some Time Off, 23%
Michele has had quite the busy schedule in the last few years not only filming Glee, but even after the first two seasons wrapped Michele and her co-stars headed out on the road for a Glee Live! national tour. Twenty-three percent of fans think Michele deserves a rest and would like to see the actress take some time for herself by stepping away from the spotlight for a little while.
2. Star in the Wicked Movie, 20%
One of Broadway's most popular musicals, Wicked, will be adapted for the big screen and fans would like to see Michele take on the starring role of Elphaba. Michele is no stranger to Wicked, having performed the show's anthems "Defying Gravity" and "For Good" on Glee. Michele even recently lent her voice to another Wizard of Oz-themed project, the upcoming animated film Dorothy of Oz. Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz also thinks Michele would make a great Elphaba.
3. Star in Funny Girl on Broadway, 20%
The classic musical Funny Girl is eyeing its first ever Broadway revival and the iconic role of Fanny Brice has yet to be cast. While director Bartlett Sher has previously said Michele's Glee schedule would not permit her to headline the show's initial Los Angeles engagement, it's possible she would be available should the show transfer to the Great White Way in the fall of 2012. The production would mark Michele's return to Broadway for the first time since starring in the Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening.
