Jeremy Jordan is going to have a busy fall season. Before the actor begins performances as infamous bank robber Clyde Barrow in Broadway's Bonnie & Clyde, he will lead the cast of the stage adaptation of Disney's Newsies at Paper Mill Playhouse. Jordan will play young newsboy Jack Kelly opposite Tony nominee John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer. Kara Lindsay will play Katherine, a role created specifically for the stage version of Newsies. Performances begin September 15 followed by opening night on September 25. Directed by Jeff Calhoun, the limited engagement runs through October 16.
Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Newsies features the film's original music as well as additional songs by original composer Alan Menken and lyricist Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein. Inspired by the real events of the Newsboy Strike of 1899, Newsies follows a young New York City newsboy who leads a group of orphans in a protest against Joseph Pultizer, William Randolph Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.
Jordan's Broadway credits include West Side Story and Rock of Ages. Dossett received a Tony Award nomination for Gypsy and has appeared on Broadway in The Constant Wife, Democracy, Dinner at Eight, An Almost Happy Picture, Mamma Mia!, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Ragtime, Prelude to a Kiss and Mastergate. Lindsay's stage credits include Little House on the Prairie: The Musical, Cabaret and Lone Star Love.
Playing Jordan's fellow Newsies are Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andrew Keenan Bolger as Crutchie, Tommy Bracco as Spot Conlon, Brendon Stimson as Oscar Delancey, Mike Faist as Morris Delancey, Aaron J. Albano, Ryan Breslin, Kyle Coffman, Max Ehrich, JP Ferreri, Garett Hawe, Corey Hummerston, Evan Kasprazk, Andy Richardson, Scott Shendenhelm and Ryan Steel. The cast also features Mark Aldrich as Seitz, Helen Anker as Medda, John E. Brady as Wiesel, Kevin Carolan as Roosevelt, Julie Foldesi as Ms. Baum, Stuart Marland as Snyder, Michael McArthur, Jack Scott, Nick Sullivan and Laurie Veldheer.
