Syndicated talk radio host Mike Gallagher will make a week-long cameo appearance in the Broadway musical Memphis from September 6 through September 11 at the Shubert Theatre. Gallagher will open the show with an expanded cameo part written by Tony winner Joe DiPietro. Deejay “Cousin Brucie” Morrow made a similar guest appearance in Memphis in May.
The Mike Gallagher Show can be heard on 710 WOR in New York City as well as by nearly four million people every week across the United States. Gallagher is also a regular contributor to the Fox News Channel. In addition to his hosting duties, Gallagher has acted in regional theater productions including Oliver! (as Bumble at Lyric Stage in Dallas), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (as Lawrence at Centre Stage in South Carolina) and Love Letters (opposite Sally Struthers at Kentucky Repertory Theatre.) His film credits include One Angry Man with Jackie Mason and The Wager with Randy Travis.
Memphis centers on young white deejay Huey Calhoun (Tony nominee Chad Kimball), who falls in love with everything he shouldn’t in 1950s Memphis: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer named Felicia Farrell (Tony nominee Montego Glover). Winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the show features a score by David Bryan and DiPietro and a book by DiPietro.
