There wasn’t a dry eye in the Beacon Theatre when Anything Goes star Sutton Foster wished her longtime dresser Julien Havard a teary farewell to pursue a career as an artist in her 2011 Tony acceptance speech. But the two aren't finished working together quite yet—Foster and Havard will soon be having a joint art show at Hyannis Harbor Arts Center in Massachusetts, where Havard is an artist-in-residence. Their gallery exhibit, Foster’s first, will run from August 14-28.
After their first show together, 2002’s Thoroughly Modern Millie for which Foster won her first Tony Award, Foster and Havard worked together for nearly a decade on shows like Little Women, The Drowsy Chaperone, Young Frankenstein and Shrek the Musical. While Foster was on stage Havard would create his artwork, often featuring characters from the productions on which they were working. Inspired by him, Foster began creating work of her own, from ink drawings to paper collage.
Both Foster and Havard will be feted at an artist's reception at the gallery on August 15.
