Goodspeed Musicals will welcome Hello! My Baby, a new musical featuring Tin Pan Alley hits, to its Norma Terris Theatre this fall. Created by Tony nominee Cheri Steinkellner and music director Georgia Stitt, the show will run at the Connecticut venue November 3-27, directed by Ray Roderick. No casting has been announced.
Hello! My Baby, which centers on a song-plugger who meets a factory girl in the early 20th century, was mounted at Goodspeed's Festival of New Artists reading series in January 2011. Drawing from the song catalog of composers such as George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern, the show includes classics including "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows," "Alice Blue Gown," "Ain't We Got Fun," "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," "You Made Me Love You," "My Buddy," "Stairway to Paradise," "Hello! My Baby" and more.
Hello! My Baby was conceived and written by Steinkellner, a 2011 Tony and 2010 Olivier Award nominee for co-writing the book to Sister Act. Steinkellner also contributed the new lyrics to the show. Stitt, who is creating new music and arrangements for Hello! My Baby, previously collaborated with Steinkellner on the musical Mosaic and won the 2005 Harold Arlen Award for her musical Big Red Sun. Choreography for the show will be by Kelli Barclay.
