A powerful role like Maria Callas deserves an equally powerful portrait—and Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson has delivered in his salute to Tyne Daly and the cast of Master Class. Daly won raves as opera diva Callas in Manhattan Theatre Club’s Broadway revival of the Tony-winning play by Terrence McNally, and Squigs portrays her as a larger-than-life figure to the students she matches wits with (played by Sierra Boggess, Garrett Sorenson and Alexandra Silber) as well as unflappable accompanist Manny (Jeremy Cohen). Master Class ends its run at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on September 4, so get tickets now!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Click to e-mail Squigs. Photo by Matthew Murphy
