Tony-nominated The Book of Mormon lead Josh Gad will guest star on TV's Modern Family this fall, according to EW.com. Gad will play a neighbor who worships and models his own life after Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell.) The episode will air during the Emmy-winning series upcoming third season.
Gad earned a Tony nomination earlier this year for The Book of Mormon. He has also appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His film and TV credits include Love and Other Drugs, 21, The Rocker, Gigi: Almost American, Californication, Bored to Death and Party Down.
The Broadway star will be in good company on the Modern Family set as his guest spot marks a reunion with Burrell, his former co-star on TV's short-lived sitcom Back to You. Modern Family also features original The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee star Jesse Tyler Ferguson as well as Chicago veteran Sofia Vergara and Grey Gardens alum Sarah Hyland. Last season Modern Family featured guest appearances by Broadway stars including Lin-Manuel Miranda and Nathan Lane. The show's third season begins September 21.
