Gary Wilmes, Stephen Pucci and Jennifer Lim will lead the cast of Broadway transfer of Chinglish, by Tony winner David Henry Hwang. The play, which just concluded its world premiere run at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, will begin performances at the Longacre Theatre on October 11 ahead of an October 27 opening night. Leigh Silverman, who also helmed the Chicago production, will direct.
Wilmes, who recently appeared in the off-Broadway phenomenon Gatz, stars in the new play which chronicles the journey of an American businessman who travels to China looking to score a lucrative contact for his family's sign-making firm. Pucci and Lim, who played an Australian consultant and a strong-willed Chinese official in the Chicago production, will reprise their roles on Broadway, as will cast members Angela Lin, Christine Lin, Johnny Wu and Larry Zhang.
The design team includes set designer David Korins, costume designer Anita Yavich and lighting designer Brian MacDevitt.
