Tony winners Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin, who are teaming up on Broadway for the first time since Evita to bring An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin to the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, will follow up the Broadway reunion by taking their show back on the road.
After their 63-performance Broadway run, they will play the following tour dates: January 17-22, 2012 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO; February 14 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, FL; March 20-25 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Fred Kavil Theatre in Thousand Oaks, CA; March 29 at The Theatre@1800 in Stevens Point, WI and September 15 at the Charles W. Eisenmann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson, TX.
LuPone and Patinkin have appeared in concert together numerous times over the years and are no strangers to touring. The pair is arriving on Broadway after well-reviewed stops around the U.S., Toronto, Australia and New Zealand. According to a regional review, An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin focuses on the music of Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rodgers and includes songs by writers as diverse as Vernon Duke and Antonio Carlos Jobim. The Broadway show features musical staging consulting by Ann Reinking. Patinkin’s longtime pianist Paul Ford will accompany the duo.
The Broadway engagement of An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin begins November 16 with an official opening set for November 21. It will play on Broadway through January 13, 2012.
