The national tour of The Book of Mormon is set to launch four months earlier than its originally announced December 2012 start date. The tour will now kick off at Denver's Ellie Caulkins Opera House on August 14, 2012, and run through September 2. The engagement was originally set to play the Denver Center for the Performing Arts' Buell Theatre. No casting has been announced at this time.
Featuring a book and score by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon follows two mismatched teenage missionaries as they set out to spread the Mormon religion in Uganda. Upon arrival and instantly faced by the country's poverty and AIDS epidemic, the duo discovers their mission may not be as easy as they planned. The show opened on Broadway on March 24, 2011, at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre and earned nine Tony Awards including Best Musical.
Further tour dates will be announced shortly.
