The Book of Mormon to Recruit Followers With New Company in Chicago

Looks like Elder Price and Elder McKinley are headed to Chicago: The Book of Mormon will launch a Windy City production in December 2012 at the Bank of America Theatre. The engagement is currently scheduled for a 12-week run. No casting has been announced.

"We plan to be involved every step of the way just as we were on the Broadway production," composers Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in a statement. "We're just incredibly excited about doing everything we can to deliver a great show for the Chicago audience."

Featuring a book and score by Parker, Stone and Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon follows two mismatched teenage missionaries as they set out to spread the Mormon religion in Uganda. Faced by the country's poverty and AIDS epidemic, the duo discovers their mission may not be as easy as they planned. The show opened on Broadway on March 24, 2011, at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre and earned nine Tony Awards including Best Musical.

The Book of Mormon national tour is set to launch on August 14, 2012, at Denver's Ellie Caulkins Opera House. In recent years, Chicago has also played home to sit down runs of Broadway hits including Wicked, Jersey Boys and Billy Elliot.
