As kids all over America head back to school, Broadway.com decided to ask our favorite Broadway stars to look back at their own years in the classroom, sharing memories of favorite subjects and activities and describing their younger selves. For Laura Osnes, who is wrapping up her run as Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes before starring in Bonnie & Clyde later this fall, her high school destiny is being fulfilled!
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Geier. She was my choir teacher in high school. She also musically directed all the high school musicals, and I loved her so much! She was always so kind and encouraging, proud and supportive. More like an auntie than a teacher!
In school you would have been named "most likely to…"
I actually was voted "Most Likely to Be on Broadway" my senior year. Ha!
What’s your favorite back-to-school item?
Ooooh, my favorite thing was picking out my schedule planner every year. Hahaha! I still have not resorted to the digital age and continue to pick out and write everything in a planner every year.
In which extracurricular activities did you participate?
Chamber Choir, Theater, National Honor Society
What class did you dread and why?
Phys-Ed, of course. All the boys threw dodge balls at me.
