HBO Picks Up Aaron Sorkin Project, Starring John Gallagher Jr., Jeff Daniels & More

HBO has picked up the previously announced Aaron Sorkin TV project, whose pilot featured Broadway veterans Jeff Daniels, Alison Pill, John Gallagher, Jr., Thomas Sadoski and Sam Waterston as well as Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn and Dev Patel. The currently untitled cable news-themed series was formerly known as More As This Story Develops. No filming or debut dates have been announced.

The series centers on a cable news anchor (Daniels), his new executive producer  (Mortimer), his newsroom staff (Pill, Gallagher, Munn, Patel and Sadoski) and their boss (Waterston). Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements.

Featuring a script by Sorkin, the pilot was directed by Greg Mottola and executive produced by Sorkin, Scott Rudin and Alan Poul.
