Nicky Silver's The Lyons, which was set to begin performances on September 21 at off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre, has delayed its start date until September 22. The cancellation of the first preview is due to recent adjustments to the rehearsal schedule that were caused by Hurricane Irene earlier this month. Opening night remains planned for October 11.
Starring Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa and directed by Mark Brokaw, The Lyons follows a family grappling with the death of its patriarch. When Rita (Lavin), the wife of Ben Lyons (Latessa), and their grown children gather to say goodbye, they learn that despite being a family, each of them is utterly isolated. Ben’s death may be a catalyst that propels them into foreign territory—human connection.
The cast also features Michael Esper, Kate Jennings Grant, Brenda Pressley and Gregory Wooddell.
