Ghostlight Records will release an updated and re-mastered version of the Footloose the Musical original cast recording this fall. The album will be available digitally on October 4 with a physical release to follow on October 25. Original cast member Hunter Foster has recorded a rendition of "Still Rockin'," a song cut from the show during its pre-Broadway run at the Kennedy Center, for the new album.
The original 1998 cast recording has been out of print since the show's original record label, Q Recordings, shut down in 2003. The album will also be accompanied by new artwork from Frank "Fraver" Verlizzo.
Featuring music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford, as well as songs from the original 1984 film, Footloose opened at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre on October 5, 1998. The show earned four Tony nominations and ran for 709 performances, closing on July 2, 2000. The original cast featured Jeremy Kushnier as Ren McCormack, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Ariel Moore, Stephen Lee Anderson as Reverend Shaw Moore, Dee Hoty as Vi Moore as well as recent X Factor sensation Stacy Francis.
A film remake of Footloose will hit theaters on October 14.
