Two more Broadway regulars have signed on for NBC's upcoming Broadway-themed series Smash. Savannah Wise and Wesley Taylor will play dancers who befriend aspiring actress Karen (Katharine McPhee) when the show begins its run next year.
Wise has appeared on Broadway in Ragtime, Rock of Ages and Les Miserables and led the cast of off-Broadway's Lucky Guy earlier this year. Taylor's Broadway credits include Rock of Ages and The Addams Family. He appeared in the musical adaptation of Tales of the City at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre this summer.
Executive-produced by Steven Speilberg, Smash follows the path of a composing team as they create a new Broadway musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe. The pilot episode was penned by playwright Theresa Rebeck, directed by Michael Mayer and features music from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. The cast is lead by Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston as well as many Broadway veterans including Christian Borle, Megan Hilty and Brian d'Arcy James.
Smash will premiere on February 6, 2012.
