Theater vet Christine Pedi will assume the title role in Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage on October 29 at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre at Sofia’s. Current star Joyce DeWitt will plays her final performance on October 8. Laurie Birmingham, who originated the role in the show’s out-of-town tryout last year, will star as Miss Abigail on October 15 and 22.
Written by Ken Davenport and Sarah Saltzberg, Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage is based on Abigail Grotke’s popular advice book about a relationship expert to the stars. The title character and her sexy sidekick Paco (played by Eddie Gutierrez) travel the globe teaching her outrageously funny “how-tos” on dating, mating and marriage.
Pedi has a long association with the satirical revue Forbidden Broadway and received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Forbidden Hollywood. She appeared on Broadway in Talk Radio and Little Me and played Mrs. Bobby Baccala in The Sopranos. Pedi will juggle her Miss Abigail role with NEWSical the Musical at the Kirk Theatre Theatre Row and her annual holiday show There’s No Bizness Like Snow Bizness at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.
