Tony winner Joel Grey, who is currently starring as gangster Moonface Martin opposite Sutton Foster in Anything Goes, will be out of the show for two weeks following an injury. Robert Creighton, who plays the purser and is Grey's understudy, will perform the role until his return.
“Joel Grey sustained a minor fracture in his left foot while walking around New York City,” a spokesperson for the production said in a statement. “His doctors expect him to make a full recovery in two weeks, and he looks forward to returning to Anything Goes as soon as he can.”
The classic Cole Porter tuner tells the story of two unlikely pairs who set off on the course of true love when they board the S.S. American in a flurry of song, dance, exotic disguises and good old-fashioned blackmail. The score features such classics as the title tune, as well as "You're The Top," "It's De-Lovely," "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" and "I Get a Kick Out of You." This Tony-winning revival, directed by Kathleen Marshall, began previews on March 10 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, and opened on April 7.
