Glenn Close has spent the past three decades trying to put together a film version of The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs, the play she starred in at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1982. It’s easy to see why the two-time Tony winner was obsessed with the role: She plays an Englishwoman who pretends to be a man in order to work as a butler in a 19th century Dublin hotel. The actress has finally achieved her goal, and she’s getting major Oscar buzz for Albert Nobbs, which co-stars Mia Wasikowska, Tony winner Janet McTeer, Aaron Johnson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Brendan Gleeson. An official release date hasn't been announced, but the film's official trailer gives a tantalizing preview of the film, which was co-written by Close and novelist John Banville and directed by Rodrigo Garcia.
