Tony Award winner Viola Davis and her husband, actor Julian Tennon, are the proud parents of a newly adopted baby girl named Genesis. The actress confirmed the news at an ELLE Women in Hollywood event on October 17, according to People.com. Genesis is Davis’ first child; Tennon is a father of two from previous relationships.
Parenthood caps off an eventful year for Davis, who is getting major Oscar buzz for her performance in the hit movie The Help. The 46-year-old actress won a 2010 Tony for Fences and was previously nominated for an Oscar for the big-screen adaptation of Doubt.
In a Q&A with Broadway.com during the run of Fences, Davis praised her husband as “very much a mensch, a regular guy.... He did a lot of film, TV and theater, but he also raised his children. He’s a grandfather. He was a probation officer. He’s lived a life. And I think when you’ve lived a life, you can put this business in its place. It’s really just making a living, it’s not your life.”
Best wishes to Davis, Tennon and their entire family!
