The world premiere production of Nicky Silver's The Lyons has extended at off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre for a second time. The play will now run through November 20 instead of the previously announced closing date of November 11.
Directed by Mark Brokaw and starring Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa, The Lyons follows a family grappling with the imminent death of its patriarch. When Rita (Lavin), the wife of Ben Lyons (Latessa), and their grown children (played by Michael Esper and Kate Jennings Grant) gather to say goodbye, they learn that despite being a family, each of them is utterly isolated. Ben’s death may be a catalyst that propels them into foreign territory—human connection.
The production also features Gregory Woodell and Brenda Pressley. For an essay from Silver on the origins of his latest hit play, click here.
