Veterans of the Broadway productions of Irving Berlin's White Christmas James Clow, Tony Yazbeck, Meredith Patterson and Peter Reardon will star alongside Edward James Hyland and Jill Paice in the Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming production of the holiday musical in Millburn, New Jersey. Directed by Marc Bruni, the show begins performances November 16 with opening night set for November 20. The limited engagement runs through December 24.
Clow and Yazbeck will reprise their roles of song-and-dance friends Bob Wallace and Phil Davis respectively, with Jill Paice and Meredith Patterson playing singing sisters Betty and Judy Haynes. Reardon stars as Ralph Sheldrake and Hyland takes on the role of General Waverly opposite previously announced cast member Lorna Luft as Martha Watson.
Clow's Broadway work includes Assassins, Company, Wonderful Town, She Loves Me and Blood Brothers. Yazbeck recently appeared on Broadway in Chicago and has also been featured in A Chorus Line, Never Gonna Dance, Oklahoma and both the 1989 and 2008 revivals of Gypsy. Paice recently starred in off-Broadway's Death Takes a Holiday and has appeared on Broadway in The 39 Steps, The Women in White and Curtains. Patterson has appeared on Broadway in 42nd Street and The Green Bird. Hyland's Broadway credits include Arcadia, Festen, The Man Who Had All the Luck, The Price and Ah! Wilderness.
Based on the popular 1954 film starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, Irving Berlin's White Christmas tells the tale of two famous song-and-dance men who stage a show in a scenic, snow-topped Vermont inn — and end up finding love with two singing sisters under the mistletoe. The show features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. The show originally opened on Broadway on November 23, 2008 at the Marquis Theatre and returned for a second holiday engagement in 2009.
