Chinglish, the new comedy about business, love and clashing culture by Tony-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, opens at the Longacre Theatre on October 27. Leigh Silverman, who helmed a successful run of the show at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre earlier this year, directs.
Inspired by the mangled mixture of languages born out of cultural collision, Chinglish chronicles the journey of an American businessman who travels to China looking to score a lucrative contact for his family's sign-making firm.
The unlikely love story stars Gary Wilmes stars as the fish-out-of-water businessman, Stephen Pucci as a British expatriate and business consultant and Jennifer Lim as a Chinese official. The cast of Chinglish also features Angela Lin, Christine Lin, Johnny Wu and Larry Zhang.
