Drumroll, please: In honor of Halloween, we asked Broadway.com readers to send in photos of their best Broadway-themed costumes. After whittling the submissions down to a list of 13 finalists, fans voted for their favorite—and the readers have spoken! Taking top honors in our theater-themed costume contest is Natasha Lenartowych, who dressed up as “AWESOME Hippie Regina,” the activist and L.A. city planner from Rock of Ages.
To give her costume that extra special touch, Lenartowych had a hand from Regina herself. “My favorite part of my costume is the vest,” she told Broadway.com. “Josephine Rose Roberts, who is currently playing the role of Regina on Broadway, made me the vest before she left the Toronto run."
Her Regina get-up is so good, Lenatrowych had Rock of Ages stars and fans alike singing her praises. “After wearing my Regina costume for the first time, Eric Coles [the Toronto Joey Primo] came up with my nickname, Little Regina, and to this day, the nickname has stuck,” Lenartowych said. “While I was dressed in my costume, a little girl came up to me and said, 'You were really good, can you sign my Playbill?'”
Runners-up are Eric Rosenberg and Katie Funk, who channeled Bud Frump and Smitty from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, followed by Samantha Shoop as a Newsie. Thanks for voting, and congratulations to all our fantastic costume contestants!
