No need to "Prepare Ye" any longer...the first Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's Godspell opens on November 7 at Circle in the Square Theatre. Directed by Daniel Goldstein, Godspell features a cast led by Hunter Parrish as Jesus and Wallace Smith as Judas, plus Telly Leung, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Lindsay Mendez, George Salazar, Nick Blaemire, Uzo Aduba, Celisse Henderson and Julia Mattison.
A slew of stars are scheduled to catch the show on opening night, including Parrish's Weeds co-star Mary-Louise Parker, The Mountaintop's Angela Bassett, Kevin Jonas, Other Desert Cities' Judith Light, Rita Wilson, S. Epatha Merkerson, Gavin Creel, Brian Stokes Mitchell, The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells, Andre de Shields and Josh Sussman. Godspell alums such as Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Victor Garber and Paul Shaffer are also expected to be on hand to show their support.
After a successful five year run at off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre beginning in 1971, Godspell originally transferred to Broadway on June 22, 1976, before closing at the Ambassador Theatre after 527 performances. The musical features classic songs including "Day By Day," "By My Side" and "All For the Best."
