In Relatively Speaking, Lisa Emery plays foil to Marlo Thomas’ manic, wealthy widow in Elaine May’s George Is Dead, but this respected stage vet showed off her real-life kooky side when she invited Broadway.com into her dressing room at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. In addition to revealing the cheeky cue line that lets her know when to pop her pre-show throat lozenge, Emery showed off her uppers (endless espresso), her downers (magnifying makeup mirror) and her drugs of choice (relax, they’re for her eyes). But considering that roommate Katherine Borowitz is a master of the pregnancy suit strip tease, it’s no wonder she tops Emery’s list of most important backstage items.
