The Broadway revival of Noel Coward's classic comedy Private Lives, starring Kim Cattrall and Paul Gross, opens on November 17 at the Music Box Theatre.
Notable guests expected to attend the opening performance include Rebecca Romijn, Patrick Stewart, Mario Cantone, Michael Stipe, Tammy Grimes (who played Amanda opposite Brian Bedford in an acclaimed 1969 revival), Klaus Biesenbach, Peter Gelb, Thomas Schumacher, Ralph Gibson, Martin Amis and Isabel Fonseca and Sonny and Gita Mehta.
Private Lives centers on the glamorous, rich and reckless Amanda (Cattrall) and her ex-husband Elyot (Gross). Honeymooning in the south of France with their new spouses, the two meet again across adjoining hotel balconies, rekindling their feelings for each other.
Directed by Richard Eyre, the production also features Simon Paisley Day, Anna Madeley and Caroline Lena Olsson. The show played a successful pre-Broadway engagement earlier this fall in Toronto. Cattrall also played Amanda in Eyre’s 2010 West End production of the play.
