The previously announced revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, directed by Mike Nichols and starring the previously announced Philip Seymour Hoffman, Andrew Garfield and Linda Emond, will begin its Broadway run on February 13, 2012, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Opening night for the 16 week limited engagement is set for March 15.
Death of a Salesman, Miller’s 1949 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, concerns Willy Loman (Hoffman) an aging traveling salesman coming to terms with the emptiness of his life. Willy had great dreams for his oldest son, Biff (Garfield), a former high school football star who has not lived up to his father’s expectations.
The cast will also include Tony winner John Glover (Love! Valour! Compassion!) as Ben, Finn Wittrock (TV's All My Children) as Happy, Fran Kranz (Bachelorette) as Bernard, Bill Camp (Coram Boy) as Charley, Glenn Fleshler (Arcadia) as Stanley and Stephanie Janssen (Mrs. Warren's Profession) as Miss Forsythe.
The play was most recently produced on Broadway in 1999 in a production that won Tony Awards for Best Revival, Best Actor (Brian Dennehy as Willy), Best Featured Actress (Elizabeth Franz as Linda) and Best Director (Robert Falls).
