Tony nominee Bobby Cannavale and Tony winner Ellen Barkin will guest star on TV’s Modern Family in early 2012, according to TVLine.com. Cannavale will clown around as Louis, former partner of Fizbo, the alter ego of Cam (Eric Stonestreet). Barkin will be a bit scarier as the recurring character Vera, a tough-as-nails real estate broker who becomes the nemesis of Phil (Ty Burrell).
Cannavale is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Vince D’Angelo on TV’s Will & Grace as well as roles on Third Watch, Sex and the City and Cupid. He received Tony nominations for The Motherf**ker with the Hat and Mauritius.
Barkin won the 2011 Tony Award for her role as Dr. Brookner in The Normal Heart. Her film credits include Diner, The Big Easy and Another Happy Day.
Modern Family features original The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee star Jesse Tyler Ferguson as well as Chicago veteran Sofia Vergara and Grey Gardens alum Sarah Hyland. Previous Modern Family guest stars include Broadway’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, Josh Gad and Nathan Lane.
