Broadway vet Lauren Ambrose has had no trouble landing a new high-profile role after the postponement of Funny Girl. Ambrose joins Broadway favorites Steven Pasquale and Richard Dreyfuss in A&E’s upcoming miniseries remake of Coma, based on the classic Michael Crichton-directed thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The four-hour, two-day miniseries is slated to premiere on Memorial Day 2012.
The miniseries is a retelling of the 1978 version of Coma (based on the Robin Cook book of the same name), which followed the inner-workings of a hospital. The star-studded cast also includes Tony winner Ellen Burstyn, Broadway veteran James Woods and film and TV vet Geena Davis.
Ambrose earned two Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Claire Fisher on HBO’s Six Feet Under. Her Broadway credits include Awake and Sing! and Exit the King. Pasquale appeared on Broadway in Reasons to Be Pretty and off-Broadway in Fat Pig, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide... and A Soldier's Play. For seven seasons he starred as Sean Garrity on FX’s Rescue Me. Dreyfuss’ Broadway credits include Sly Fox, Death and the Maiden, But Seriously… and Total Abandon. Dreyfuss is best known for his work on the silver screen, including Jaws, The American President, Mr. Holland's Opus and Piranha.
