It's game time for Patti Murin, Josh Segarra and the cast of Lysistrata Jones as the new musical is set to officially open December 14 at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. Directed by Dan Knechtges, the reimagining of Aristophanes’ classic comedy features a score by Lewis Flinn and book by Douglas Carter Beane.
Expected guests at the show's opening performance include Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Billie Jean King, John McEnroe, Penny Marshall, Vanessa Williams, Cynthia Nixon, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kobt, Hope Davis, Bebe Neuwirth, Hunter Parrish, Ana Gasteyer, Patty Smyth, Bryan Batt, Julie White, Victoria Clark, Jerry Zaks, Tom Everett Scott, Mary Testa, Penny Fuller, Allen Campbell, Lauren Kennedy and Chris Mullin.
Lysistrata Jones updates the classic Greek tale to the 21st century and tells the story of a peppy college student, Lysistrata Jones, as she makes a pact with her cheerleader girlfriends to refuse to “give it up” to their basketball-playing boyfriends unless they end the team's long-running losing streak.
In addition to Murin and Segarra, Lysistrata Jones also stars Liz Mikel, Jason Tam, Lindsay Nicole Chambers, Alexander Aguilar, Ato Blankson-Wood, Katie Boren, Kat Nejat, LaQuet Sharnell, Teddy Toye and Alex Wyse.
